How to appeal if your request for an EHC needs assessment is refused
You can appeal against a decision to refuse your assessment request.
Before you appeal please speak with your allocated SEN Officer particularly if you have more information you wish them to consider. You may also wish to contact SENDIASS for advice.
Where a child is over the compulsory school age, they will be the main person making this decision. They can still ask you for help if they want to.
A special court will decide whether a decision should be changed. This is called the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Tribunal.
Should you decide to formally appeal the decision of the local authority then you must do so through the tribunal.
