There is support available if you decide to request an assessment for your child.

Special educational needs and disability information advice and support service (SENDIASS)

SENDIASS is an information, advice and support service that can help the parent of a child or young person with SEN and disabilities. The service is impartial and confidential. Contact SENDIASS.

SENDIASS Oxfordshire has produced a helpful EHC needs assessment guide (pdf format, 78Kb) for parents.

Help for young people

The Children and Young People’s Partnership Service (CHYPPS) can provide support. CHYPPS can support a young person to request an EHC needs assessment. Or attend meetings with them to help them get their views across.

Finding an advocate

An advocate is someone who can help children, young people and parents to say what they want if they find it difficult. An advocate can help you find information or to talk to someone.
