Registration Service (Births, deaths and ceremonies) - Working hours and out of hours emergencies

Our offices are open from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4pm on Fridays. Our contact number is 0345 241 2489

If you have an urgent registration emergency that cannot wait until our offices are open, please call our Registration Emergency phone line 01865 897800.  Please note that this number is for registration service emergencies only and not a general council emergency line. The on-call Registrar will only be able to help you with emergencies relating to deaths or ceremonies. 

Our emergency phone line is open from 4pm to 6pm on Friday and from 8am to 6pm on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

We can assist with the following registration emergencies out of hours:

• Any emergencies relating to a ceremony taking place that day
• Cancelling a ceremony due to take place before the office is next open
• Arranging a deathbed wedding or civil partnership ceremony
• Registering a death or stillbirth where there is a need to hold the funeral on the same day/following day
