Project 4: Oxford universities local policy lab

Using research to understand health inequalities.

Why is this important?

The University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University have a key role in developing Oxfordshire as a Marmot Place.

This includes using their academic and research expertise to help us best understand what actions will best help reduce health inequality.

It also involves using their assets, facilities, employment practices, and broader influence to help address local inequality. This is part of their role as local anchor institutions.

What has been achieved so far?

An innovative Local Policy Lab initiative connects university researchers with local councils to address public policy challenges.

It supports evidence-based policy, whilst graduate students get opportunities to work on impactful research projects.
