When to renew your bus pass

Auto-renewal for an older person's bus pass

Your older person's bus pass is valid for four years. You do not need to reapply for your bus pass. Two weeks before your current bus pass expires you should receive a new bus pass in the post.

I have not received my renewed older person's bus pass

Contact us if you have not received the bus pass by seven days before the expiry date, and you have not moved address.

If you have not received your bus pass and you have not informed us within six weeks of the dispatched date, there may be a charge of £10 to replace the bus pass.

Make updates to your older person's bus pass before it renews

You can make updates to the following details before your bus pass renews:

  • your address
  • your name
  • your appearance.

If we send the bus pass to your old address, there will be a £10 fee to send a replacement to your new address.

Disability bus pass renewals

The following categories will renew automatically:

  • Learning disability
  • Blind or partially sighted
  • Profoundly or severely deaf

Your disability bus pass is valid for four years. You do not need to reapply for your bus pass. Two weeks before your current bus pass expires you should receive a new bus pass in the post.

Non-auto renewal

Once you have provided up-to-date evidence of disability and your bus pass has been approved.

If you have not received your bus pass, and you have not informed us within six weeks of the dispatched date, there may be a charge of £10 to replace the bus pass.

Categories that do not renew automatically

We do not renew bus passes more than six weeks before expiry.

Check the date on your bus pass before you start a renewal. The expiry date is in large print on the front of your pass.
